The main mission of the sending of the Prophet Muhammad saw. is to perfect moral nobility. In line with that, it is explained in the Qur'an that He was sent only to spread love to the universe. Meanwhile, worship is a means, while the ultimate goal is the development of noble morals. Prophet Muhammad SAW. Said, "The believer with the most perfect faith is the one with the best morals" (HR. Abu Daud and Imam Ahmad). Prophet Muhammad SAW. also said, "The person with the best Islam is the one with the best morals" (HR. Imam Ahmad).

In other words, only noble morals filled with compassion can be proof of the strength of the faith and the goodness of worship. Therefore, Islamic Religious Education and Character Education is oriented towards noble morals and towards the formation of students who are full of compassion. Not only full of compassion for fellow Muslims, but for all humans, even all elements of the universe.

This is in line with the 2013 Curriculum which is designed to develop complete competencies between knowledge, skills and attitudes. Students are not only expected to increase their knowledge and insight, but also their skills and abilities and their character and personality will become nobler.

This book on Islamic Religious Education and Character for Class XII was written in the spirit as stated above. The learning is divided into religious activities that students must carry out in an effort to understand their religious knowledge. However, it doesn't stop with religious knowledge as the final result. This understanding must be actualized in real actions and daily attitudes that are in accordance with religious demands, both in the form of ritual worship related to the creator and worship that regulates relationships between people in social society.
